About ART - Arlington Transit

ART - Arlington Transit is a local bus system provided by Arlington County, Virginia. ART supplements the regional Metro system by providing service to neighborhoods not served by Metrobus, and increasing the frequency of bus service in other neighborhoods. ART operates smaller, neighborhood-friendly vehicles, and provides access to Metrorail and Virginia Railway Express (VRE). ART is environmentally friendly, operating on clean-burning compressed natural gas (CNG). All ART buses are fully ADA accessible with wheelchair lifts and priority seating.

Program Oversight

The Transit Advisory Committee (TAC) has oversight responsibility for transit services provided in Arlington County, including ART, STAR, Metrobus, Metrorail, and MetroAccess. The TAC is a fifteen-member committee appointed by the County Manager. The TAC usually meets the second Tuesday of each month from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.   Each meeting begins with a public comment period – and the public is welcome to attend.  Please contact Richard Hartman, TAC Coordinator, for the location at 703-228-4019 (TDD: 711) or by e-mail at rchartman@arlingtonva.us.
